Pemberton Cycling Association

Road rides.

Quiet sealed roads, and not much traffic on any of them. Eight routes are mapped here, from the 25 km Pemberton Classic to the 86 km Bermuda Triangle - karri forest, farmland vistas, vineyards, and one very good valley descent.

Shortest first. Every map below is live - drag it, zoom it, or open the route in Ride with GPS to send it to a head unit or phone. No account needed to look, a free one to download the GPX.

Ride 01 · CircuitPemberton Classic

24.5 km400 m climbSealedMax grade 7.7%

Ride a piece of cycling history. The infamous Pemberton Classic loop takes you along Pemberton North Road and Eastbrook Road, sampling some of the best farmland vistas.

Race back along Vasse Highway for another lap.

Ride 02 · Out and backVeggie Patch

34 km439 m climbSealedMax grade 12.2%

A classic Pemberton out-and-back along Stirling Road and Channybearup Road, into the forest and farmland beyond town. It takes you out on the classic Pump Hill Road climb, through gently undulating farmland and forest.

Turn left at the intersection and ride to the farm stand on your right at roughly the 17 km mark. Turn around once you have loaded up on fresh produce, and enjoy the vistas in reverse on the way home.

Ride 03 · CircuitThe Safari

38.3 km559 m climbSealedMax grade 8.0%

This route uses some of Pemberton's quietest roads as you venture through the countryside. It is worth riding for the Gloucester Road segment alone, one of the region's quietest sealed roads.

The name pays homage to the wild bit. Once you cross the bridge on Vasse Highway, hit the brakes and take the dirt track on your left down to Gloucester Road. It is a short connector but fairly technical, so be prepared to dismount.

Ride 04 · CircuitLocals Only

46.7 km733 m climbSealedMax grade 7.3%

Sick of the highway? Try the Locals Only loop. It takes you out of town on Pemberton North Road, along the roller coaster of Channybearup Road, and back into town on the Stirling and Pump Hill Road combination.

Great in either direction. Mainly back roads - a treat we are glad to share.

Ride 05 · CircuitThe Valley

53.3 km753 m climbSealedMax grade 7.6%

An iconic Pemberton ride on some of the most picturesque roads in the region. Expect huge karri trees and sweeping vistas as you climb in and out of the valley.

It passes RAC Karri Valley Resort, an exceptionally scenic dining option, and Beedelup Falls is only a short detour. The ride finishes with a magical descent into Pemberton.

Rideable in either direction, but start with Vasse Highway if you are setting off early, to avoid the traffic.

Ride 06 · CircuitChip Monk

59.7 km909 m climbSealedMax grade 8.1%

Another Pemberton classic, and this one has it all. From town it runs out on scenic back roads through forest and farms towards Manjimup and back, with only a brief section on the highway.

Head out via Pemberton North Road and take Eastbrook Road through some stunning vineyards to Vasse Highway. Loop around Middlesex Road back to Channybearup Road, catching a glimpse of history as you pass an old chip mill, then return through the vista-filled Eastbrook valley.

Modest in distance, but it packs in some great climbs.

Ride 07 · CircuitRoller Coaster

63 km910 m climbSealedMax grade 7.2%

As the name suggests, this one traverses the hillier topography of the region. The circuit runs through picturesque forest and farmland to the outskirts of Manjimup before looping back. The climbs and descents are short, punchy and abundant.

Head north out of town along Vasse Highway to the main junction at South West Highway. Cross over and loop around Middlesex Road, then pick up Channybearup and Stirling Roads for a quieter, scenic ride home.

Ride 08 · CircuitBermuda Triangle

85.9 km1,168 m climbSealedMax grade 7.9%

A classic highway delight, and not one for the faint-hearted with over 1,000 m of climbing. It tours the south-eastern Pemberton region, connecting to Northcliffe and out near Quinninup via forest, farm and highway.

A great ride early in the morning before the traffic picks up, and beautiful in either direction.

Happy to leave the tarmac? There are eleven gravel routes mapped the same way, including a few that are a very long day out. The Pemberton MTB Park is a separate world again.

Before you ride

  • Know your limits, and carry enough water and food to last the journey.
  • Keep to the left and allow clear passage for passing traffic.
  • Wear a helmet and brightly coloured clothing, and run lights.
  • Be predictable, and always indicate your intentions.
  • Ride no more than two abreast and no more than 1.5 m apart. Be courteous where the road narrows and let traffic pass safely.
  • Communication is the key. Signal or call your intentions and any hazards, for your safety and for everyone near you.
  • Ride with a buddy. There are stretches out here with no reception at all.

These are public roads

Every route on this page shares the road with cars, log trucks and farm traffic. Conditions change, and the club has no control over any of it.

Ride as though the road is not yours alone, because it is not.

In an emergency

Phone Triple Zero (000). Emergency hospitals are located in Pemberton and Manjimup.
